The event is our ever-popular, Christmas time fundraiser and consists of an excellent Christmas Dinner followed by a number of games before climaxing with the big auction, run by the ever present Ronnie Munn.
This year we had the hardy annuals of a Christmas Quiz, a putting competition (this year featuring unusually shaped golf balls) and sliding the pound coin closest to win the Champagne (what happened to the whisky then?). The recent innovation of the "McGuire Bottle Stall" was continued offering up the possibility of winning anything from a bottle of ketchup to a fine bottle of whisky! This year we had a new addition... the treasure hunt to find the Rotary Wheel.
Winners on the night included Anne McGuire in the quiz, Steve Malloy in the putting, Rob Wilkinson with the closest £ coin to the Champagne and President Richard Campbell finding the Rotary Wheel in the Treasure Hunt.
The auction featured everything from spirits to chocolates to plants to crystal glasses and 'smellies' - a chance for everyone to stock up on those last minute gifts.
Final numbers weren't available but it would seem we raised over £500 on the evening - a great performance and reflective of the generosity of our members and guests.
Special thanks go to DG John Waddell who, celebrating a very special birthday on the morning after the event, very generously paid for the drinks on the evening. Cheers John!
President Richard Campbell thanked everyone who attended and wished them all a wonderful Christmas break.
