"The best ever", "What a Great Night", "That's How to run a PROPER Burns Supper" - just some of the comments from this years Eastwood Rotary Burns Supper held at The Eglinton Arms Hotel in Eaglesham on Friday 13th February. An audience of 40+ people were well dined by the excellent kitchen at the hotel while President Richard Campbell introduced the programme of entertainment for the evening. Starting off with the Selkirk Grace from Steve Malloy, the haggis was piped in by Graham Duncan before being 'addressed' by Jim Gray, showing all how it should be done.Stewart Carle provided a fascinating and entertaining 'Immortal Memory' and was quickly followed by the ever-popular and highly amusing Iain Gordon who 'Toasted the Lassies'. The reply by Marilyn Orcharton was a brave rebuttal before Jim Gray presented the highlight of the evening with a quite outstanding 'Holy Willie's Prayer'. This man should have been on the stage.
David Stafford offered up a valedictory for the evening, thanking all of the participants for their obvious hard work and professionalism in putting on such a terrific event. The audience clearly agreed and gave everyone a huge standing ovation for their efforts. President Richard then led the company in a rousing rendition of 'Auld Lang Syne' before wishing the all 'safe hame'.
Finally, many thanks to Vice President Margaret Macdonald for organising the evening.
