The club's Annual Burns Supper was held at Williamwood Golf Club on Friday 29th January. Our President Margaret got the show off to a 'bang' when she welcomed the top table. Ronnie Munn addressed the Haggis while David Stafford delivered the Selkirk Grace.
Colin Hunter, one of our newer members, started the formal part of the evening with an inspired Immortal Memory. This was followed by an amusing Toast tae the Lassies from Steve Malloy to which Catherine Stewart responded in spirit with The Reply. An excellent Tam O'Shanter by Colin Hunter followed a musical interlude by Neil Brunton. The President led the party in Auld Lang Syne before wishing everyone a safe journey home.
The club was delighted to welcome the amazing young magician Chris Dinwoodie on 4th February.
After summarising his story to date, he then went on to entertain the club with a number of incredible tricks and sleights of hand using cards, ropes and the disappearing ball which reappeared in larger and larger form, ending up as a kiwi fruit. Bafflement was the order of the evening and Past President Barbara Grant congratulated Chris on his fantastic presentation.
You can catch up with Chris at his website
or see him live at the Admiral Bar in Glasgow where he hosts a monthly entertainment evening called "Enterteasement" on the 2nd Saturday of every month.
